Metal Shear Worn Blade Adjustments
Blade Clearance
- Measure with feeler gauges and adjust for wear
- Typical clearance: 5-10% of material thickness
- Decrease clearance setting for worn blades to compensate
Example:
For 5mm mild steel, adjust from 0.5mm (new blades) to 0.3mm (worn blades)
Cutting Force
- Increase hydraulic pressure gradually for worn blades
- Monitor amperage/pressure gauges to avoid overload
- Never exceed machine's maximum rated force
Cutting Speed
Material | Normal Speed | Worn Blade Speed |
---|---|---|
3mm Aluminum | 10 m/min | 6-8 m/min |
6mm Mild Steel | 6 m/min | 4-5 m/min |
Feed Rate
- Decrease feed rate for better material engagement
- Critical for hard/thick materials
- Allows more penetration time for worn blades
Maintenance Tip:
Regular blade inspection and timely parameter adjustments can extend blade life by 30-50%
